Noted sports cartoonist. Five original hand-drawn cartoon artwork by Uhlman in the 1930s, averaging approximately 14 x 18, depicting various boxing scenes. Subjects include: Jack Dempsey, James J. Braddock, Joe Louis, and Max Schmeling. The reverse of one item bears an unfinished scene. Each is signed at the bottom in ink, “Gus Uhlman.” In overall very good condition, with expected creasing, soiling, staining, and small tears from newsroom use.
