Gus Grissom's gold-plated Apollo 1 Fliteline medallion, measuring 1.25˝ diameter, commemorating the Apollo 1 mission. The front features a raised design of the mission insignia and the reverse boasts the last names of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee as well as "Apollo 1." Condition is mint state. Includes the original Fliteline case. Originally offered by Odyssey in 1994, the medallion is accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Gus Grissom's widow, Betty Grissom, in part: "I Betty Grissom, hereby state that…Virgil Grissom's Gold Apollo 1 Medallion…is authentic." A desirable personal memento affiliated with one of America's most prolific early astronauts, and one of its first space tragedies.
