Brahmi legend Chandra between the bow-string and king's body. Rev: goddess Lakshmi seated cross-legged on lotus, with one leg raised at an angle (Mahārājalilāsana pose), one of her hand which holds a lotus resting on it and the other holding a noose; Brahmi legend Shri Vikaramah in the right field and Tamgha to the left.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

By far the most attractive and elegantly executed royal portrait in ancient India is seen on this particular variety of the 'archer' type. The king stands in his muscular glory, showing off his lean energetic physique. This is matched by the slender beauty of the Lakshmi figure on the reverse, with her delicately poised posture.
