Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 17 x 14, April 13, 1886. President Cleveland appoints Henry C. Baird to the position of Postmaster in Athens, Pennsylvania. Signed at the conclusion by Cleveland and countersigned by Postmaster General William F. Vilas. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered soiling and toning from mirroring of seal and ribbon, lightly affecting signature, as well as other scattered light toning. The gold foil seal is crisp and mostly intact, but appears to have oxidized, and also retains its red ribbon. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
