ALS, one page, lightly-lined both sides, 8 x 10, State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, March 17, 1884. Letter to L. I. Cist. In part: “I have received your letter of the 13th inst. and pursuant to the request I beg leave to state: I was elected Governor of the State of New York on the 7th day of November 1882 and inaugurated January 1st 1883. My term will expire December 31st 1885.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and some scattered light soiling.
