Grover Cleveland autograph letter signed as New York Governor and Democratic candidate for President. Dated 22 September 1884 upon Executive Mansion, Albany stationery, he writes to his friend Winfield Robbins, ''My dear Robbins, You may be sure that I was most pleased to learn from yourself that you had again returned to your native health...I am exceedingly glad to know that I should see you soon. I mean to start for Buffalo next Thursday...and there will be something of a demonstration there in the evening of that day. I would be nice if you could be there but I should be glad to see you before then...[difficult to decipher] proof of the disadvantage of bachelorhood, in a candidate...I shall get married when I please...Grover Cleveland''. 4pp. on a single sheet of card-style stationery. Measures 5'' x 7.75''. Toning and creasing, else near fine. Accompanied by original mailing envelope.
