According to the included signed and notarized authentication letter, the items in this lot were the personal affects and war trophies of an American WWII soldier who participated in the African and Italian Campaigns. Notable among the items is Benito Mussolini's personal Fascist sash taken from Mussolini's apartment in Rome, Italy (a copy of a photograph showing Mussolini wearing a similar sash is included) and a Voighander camera taken from a fallen German soldier in Algeria, which was used to take 3 pictures of Benito Mussolini within hours of his death at the hands of Italian partisans, which are included with this lot. 1) Decorative sash, yellow and purple, with black acorns at the ends and yellow and purple tassels. The yellow tassel conceals a fascist medallion marked "UNION MILITARE/ROMA" on the back. Captured from Mussolini's apartment in Rome, 30 days before his death. 2) Sovineer bracelet, made from 5 European coins. 3) "Trench art" style dagger, 5 7/8 inch dagger, oval aluminum cross guard, and a brass shell casing hilt. With a gray leather sheath with coin accents. The blade is made from metal salvaged from a ME109's wing strut, the guard from a German officer's buckle, and the hilt a Utah Ordnance 50 BMG shell. 4) Silver finished brass Mussolini bust pin, 1 inch in length. No markings. 5) Voighander camera, black leather outer lining, with a brown leather case and shoulder strap. 6) Brown leather bound photo album, 5 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches tall. 7) Italian flag, 54 inches wide and 36 1/2 inches tall, with no visible makers marks. 8) Three post-mortem photographs of Benito Mussolini. Taken with the Voighander in #5, all close-ups of the body.
