This is a grouping of British campaign medals awarded to William Telfer which includes miniature medals. The medals are the following: Crimea Medal as awarded to Telfer when he was a corporal with the 79th Highlanders with Sebastopol clasp. Indian Mutiny Medal as awarded to Telfer when he was a corporal with the 79th Highlanders with Lucknow clasp. Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal as awarded to Telfer when he was a sergeant with the 101st Regiment. British issued Turkish Crimea Medal unnamed as issued. All on a medal bar. As stated the aforementioned medals also have a corresponding miniature medal. The miniature medals are unnamed except for the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal which is named to another individual, T. Wilkins. All on a medal bar. Comes with copies of Telfer's service records. William Telfer born in Linlithgow, Scotland, originally enlisted into the 79th Highlanders on March 2, 1848. Served with the Highlanders in the Crimean War and Indian Mutiny before being discharged ("time expired"). He enlisted for a second engagement for the 43rd Regiment of Foot in 1860 and transferred to the 101st Regiment Fusililers in 1864. Finally discharged on April 26th, 1870 when admitted as an old pensioner of Chelsea Hospital.
