Mid/late 19th century The first, attributed to Kyusen Gyuka, painted wood of an Uji doll showing a brightly colored tea-picker. Signed on the undersie, Gyuka, plus a partially lost kakihan. 1/4in (3.2cm). The second, in the style of Toen, a painted wood Noh dancer. 2 7/8in (7.2cm). The third, by Masakazu, stag antler showing a visitor trying to pass through a hole in the temple pillar at the great Nara Buddha. Signed on side of the base, Masakazu. 1 3/8in (3.4cm).
