Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 1976-1977 with 24 Coins Inside!. Group of 2 United State Mint Set from 1976-1977 included a total of 24 coins. The 1975 Mint Set remains a unique issue during the course of the annual set offering from the United States Mint. It is the only Mint Set that includes coins bearing a date different than the date of the set. This is due to the fact that 1975-dated quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins were not produced. To celebrate America’s upcoming Bicentennial, these denominations would be issued with a new reverse design and the dual date “1776-1976”. In anticipation of high demand for the coins, production began in 1975. Accordingly, the bicentennial coins were included in the 1975 Uncirculated Mint Set. Another unique aspect of this set is that it only includes coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Starting this year, the San Francisco Mint no longer produced coins for circulation bearing the “S” mint mark. The Mint set contain two 1975 Lincoln Cents (P, D), two 1975 Jefferson Nickels (P, D) two 1976 Bicentennial Washington Quarters (P, D), two 1976 Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollars (P, D), and two 1976 Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollars (P,D) that are Type 1 version. This variety exhibits thicker style lettering on the reverse design. The standard issue 1976 Mint Set included a total of twelve coins produced at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. This was the Bicentennial year for America, which was marked by the issue of three denominations bearing special reverse designs. The 1976 Washington Quarter had a reverse design which depicted a Drummer Boy from the Revolutionary era. The 1976 Kennedy Half Dollar featured Independence Hall on the reverse. Lastly, the 1976 Eisenhower Dollar featured the Liberty Bell superimposed over an image of the moon. The obverse of each coin included the dual date “1776-1976”. The regular 1976 Uncirculated Mint Set included one example from the Philadelphia Mint and one example from the Denver Mint for each of these coins. Notably, the 1976 dollar coins are the type 2 variety, which can be differentiated by thinner lettering on the reverse. Other coins included in the Mint Set are the 1976 P&D Lincoln Cent, 1976 P&D Jefferson Nickel, and 1976 P&D Roosevelt Dime. Pricing for the twelve coin sets remained the same $6.00 price as the previous year. The coins were packaged in two individual cellophane packs, each containing the coins from one of the mint facilities. These were placed with two protective cardboards in a white envelope with printing “U.S. Mint” and “1976 Uncirculated Coin”.
