Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 1976 & 1977 with 24 Coins Inside!. Group of 2 United State Mint Set from 1976 & amp; 1977 included a total of 24 coins. The 1976 Mint Set remains a unique issue during the course of the annual set offering from the United States Mint. It is the only Mint Set that includes coins bearing a date different than the date of the set. This is due to the fact that 1976-dated quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins were not produced. To celebrate America?s upcoming Bicentennial, these denominations would be issued with a new reverse design and the dual date ?1776-1976?. In anticipation of high demand for the coins, production began in 1975. Accordingly, the bicentennial coins were included in the 1976 Uncirculated Mint Set. Another unique aspect of this set is that it only includes coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Starting this year, the San Francisco Mint no longer produced coins for circulation bearing the ?S? mint mark. The Mint set contain two 1976 Lincoln Cents (P, D), two 1976 Jefferson Nickels (P, D) two 1976 Bicentennial Washington Quarters (P, D), two 1976 Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollars (P, D), and two 1976 Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollars (P,D) that are Type 1 version. This variety exhibits thicker style lettering on the reverse design. Each 1977 Mint Set total 12 coins, included the 1977 P& amp;D Lincoln Cents, Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, Kennedy Half Dollars, and Eisenhower Dollars. These coins carried a combined face value of $3.82. All of the coins included in the set were also separately issued for circulation. Packaging for the annual set underwent a slight change. Primarily the envelope housing the set was slightly larger than the previous version, although the inner plastic cellophane packs retained the same size. The pack containing the Philadelphia Mint coins was bordered in blue, and the pack containing the Denver Mint coins was bordered in red. The white envelope indicated ?U.S. Mint 1977 Uncirculated Coin?.
