Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 1974-1975 with 25 Coins Inside!. Group of 2 United State Mint Set from 1974-1975 included a total of 25 coins struck at three different mint facilities. Each 1974 Mint Set contained three Lincoln Cents (P-D-S), two Jefferson Nickels (P-D), two Roosevelt Dimes (P-D), two Washington Quarters (P-D), two Kennedy Half Dollars (P-D), and two Eisenhower Dollars (P-D). Coins included in the set were primarily struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mint facilities with only the one cent coin also struck at San Francisco. Notably, this would be the last year that San Francisco minted coins would be included in the annual uncirculated mint set. Packaging kept the same format with the P and S minted coins in a cellophane flat pack with blue striping and the D minted coins in a pack with red striping. These were placed between cardboard and within an envelope marked at the upper left corner with “U.S. Mint” and “1974 Uncirculated Coin”. The 1975 Mint Set remains a unique issue during the course of the annual set offering from the United States Mint. It is the only Mint Set that includes coins bearing a date different than the date of the set. This is due to the fact that 1975-dated quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins were not produced. To celebrate America’s upcoming Bicentennial, these denominations would be issued with a new reverse design and the dual date “1776-1976”. In anticipation of high demand for the coins, production began in 1975. Accordingly, the bicentennial coins were included in the 1975 Uncirculated Mint Set. Another unique aspect of this set is that it only includes coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Starting this year, the San Francisco Mint no longer produced coins for circulation bearing the “S” mint mark. The Mint set contain two 1975 Lincoln Cents (P, D), two 1975 Jefferson Nickels (P, D) two 1976 Bicentennial Washington Quarters (P, D), two 1976 Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollars (P, D), and two 1976 Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollars (P,D) that are Type 1 version. This variety exhibits thicker style lettering on the reverse design.
