Assorted group of late 19th- and early 20th-century literary and devotional books, including: The Works of William Cowper: His Life, Letters, and Poems (Boston, Phillips, Sampson & Co., 1851, illustrated, Boston edition); The Life and Epistles of Saint Paul by W. J. Conybeare and J. S. Howson (Hartford, Conn.: S. S. Scranton & Co., 1859, “People’s Edition,” illustrated); Pictorial Lives of the Saints edited by John Gilmary Shea (New York, Cincinnati & Chicago: Benziger Brothers, 1889); Komtesse Käthe in der Ehe. Humoresken by Eufemia von Adlersfeld-Ballestrem (Leipzig, Philipp Reclam); Germania Jugendbibliothek – Die Ansiedler in Canada. Eine Erzählung für Kinder (Milwaukee, Wis.: Geo. Brumder); Elbert Hubbard, Health & Wealth (Roycrofters, East Aurora, N.Y., 1908); a Dionne Quintuplets booklet Here We Are Three Years Old; and several other small volumes. Mixed bindings including decorative gilt cloth and pictorial boards, some with engraved plates. Condition varies from fair to good: typical rubbing to boards and extremities, scattered foxing and toning, some loose or shaken hinges, one or two volumes with losses to spine ends and worn corners, but generally sound reading or display copies with attractive shelf presence. Approximate tallest height 9–10 in.
