The first American World's Fair was held in New York City. This attractive medallion features a representation of the Crystal Palace on the obverse, struck in high relief. The reverse has a wreath that frames lettering: THE FIRST PILLAR WAS ERECTED OCTOBER 30th 1852 OPENED JUNE 1853, with the name of the architectural design firm of the structure below. Surviving specimens are very scarce. Also: <B>1884 Statue of Liberty Medal, Uncertified,</B></I> A medal commemorating the Statue of Liberty as a gift from the French Republic.
