Groucho Marx's Bow Tie Worn at 1972 "Evening With Groucho" Event at Carnegie Hall From The Joe Franklin Memory Lane Collection - This black bow tie was worn by legendary and influential comedian Groucho Marx. The bow tie was worn during Marx's 1972 "An Evening With Groucho" event at New York's Carnegie Hall. This show was one of the last one-man shows by Marx, and in 2018 the recording was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant". The black "Invizo size" bow tie was obtained from Groucho by legendary American radio and television personality Joe Franklin, who was backstage the night of the show. Franklin's radio show featured famous guests such as Andy Warhol, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Salvador Dali, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and countless others. Franklin had a love of collecting momentos from his guests, and would ask each guest to leave him a personal item, many of which would oblige. This bow tie will be accompanied by a white storage envelope with notations in Franklin's handwriting.
