For your bidding consideration is this Dutch oven made by Griswold Manufacturing. The company was founded in 1865 by Matthew Griswold in Erie, Pennsylvania. By the turn of the Century, Griswold cast iron was recognised world wide for being top quality. Today, Griswold cast iron is highly sought after by collectors as well as those seeking high quality cast iron cookware. This Dutch oven dates to circa. 1920. It features raised lettering on the lid which reads, "Griswold No. 9 Tite-Top Dutch Oven. On the inside of the lid, in the center, is stamped the Griswold cross logo with "Griswold" in block lettering. Surrounding the logo is stamped, "Patented Feb. 10, 1920", on top. "Erie PA., U.S.A." is stamped on the bottom along with a product number 2552. The bottom of the pot is marked "The Griswold MFG. CO. Cast 9 Iron/ Tight-Top Dutch Oven/ Erie PA., U.S.A./ PAT'D Mar. 16, 20/ 834". The Griswold logo appears in the center. Included with the pot is a Griswold Trivet. It too is marked with a "9", the company name, and product number 207. This pot is in good aesthetic condition, showing very little to no rust; after proper cleaning and seasoning, this pot could provide many more years of service. The pot measures 7" tall with the lid and is 13" wide at the handles.
