Griffin & Tow Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss
Marked "GRIFFIN & TOW - LONDON -" on top of the barrel and Crown / "GP" and "V" proofs on the left side of the barrel. The lock is marked "GRIFFIN / & TOW" with light border engraving. The lock, hammer, flash pan, frizzen and barrel tang were casehardened. Light engraving on the barrel tang, trigger guard and buttplate heel. There is a sliding safety lever mounted behind the hammer. Hickory ramrod with a horn tip and full stock with flutes that run halfway down the comb and decorative brass thumb plate. Joseph Griffin and John Tow worked together in London from 1770 until Griffins death in 1787.

Condition: Very good. The barrel has a polished brass appearance beginning to age, with some scattered minor dings. The iron parts have a smooth grayish patina with some light pitting on the lock. All other brass furniture has an aged patina with several minor dings on the buttplate. The stock has been repaired and revarnished and is in otherwise good condition with numerous overall scattered minor dents, dings and small gouges remaining solid. Mechanically fine.
