Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) - Original Gizmo Puppet
Original Gizmo puppet used in the production of the 1990 horror fantasy film Gremlins 2: The New Batch. The magical collectibles store that Gizmo calls home has just been destroyed, and the tiny monster finds his way into a newly erected skyscraper. Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his bride-to-be, Kate (Phoebe Cates), who have previously dealt with Gremlins run amok, discover that Gizmo and an impish legion of reptilian pals are inhabiting the downtown building. The couple tries to stop the creatures from escaping into New York City, but this new batch of beasts might be uncontrollable.

Gizmo and the other Gremlins were originally designed by effects artist Chris Walas for the first film. For Gremlins 2, Rick Baker's Cinovation Studios took over the designs, which stayed true to the original with a few slight upgrades. This is a stand-in version of Gizmo which was used for single shots where an animatronic version would to be needed to make different facial expressions or to portray body movement. This piece is made of foam latex with hand-punched white and brown hair present throughout the entire body and head. The face, ears, hands, and feet are all airbrushed to simulate flesh tone, and the puppet features handmade eyes. This piece has undergone sympathetic restoration to ensure the stability of the foam latex over time and remains in excellent, production-used condition. This lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions.
