DS, one page both sides, 8.5 x 22, no date but circa 1937. Important document in which Garson is contracted "for a period of one year commencing upon your arrival at our studios in Culver City…you agree to leave London…[at] the end of the present run…of the Play 'Old Music' in which you are taking part." She is guaranteed a salary of $1000 per week for forty weeks, with additional studio options for five more years at increasing levels of pay. Boldly signed at the conclusion by Garson, and countersigned by MGM vice president Benny Thau, who would carry on an affair with Garson early in her career. In very good to fine condition. In 1937, MGM studio head Louis B. Mayer visited London to scout new talent and saw Garson perform on stage in Old Music. Enthralled by her performance, he determined to sign her to an MGM deal.
