<td width="100%">
Green Opaque Tumbler Rarest of the rare is this tumbler made by the New England Glass Company in 1887. I believe, it was only made for one year. The process was extremely hard and quite brittle where the pieces would not survive the process. Well, here is one that survived, and except for a very small, tiny, flea-bite size ding just below the lip, and this is quite insignificant, especially for a piece from 1887, but I mention it for exactness of description. 3 1/2" tall. The proper staining and gold trimming is all intact. There are verticle ribbing of the glass which can be felt on the inside on the tumbler and can be seen on the outside. If further photos are require, please ask. The bottom is flat with a starburst shape pattern. I do not know the significance of this. Shuman's book, "The American Art Glass" book has this exact tumbler in there, and keep in mind, this book is from 1994. It was valued at $1,200 then. Rare antiques, such as this, always increase yearly.
