Good copy. € 900/1200 I: Joannes Caesarius (Jülich c. 1468-Cologne 1551) was a leading German humanist, doctor and philosopher, active in the Lower Rhine region and Westphalia. The dedication to Wilhelm Riffenstein is dated 'Cologne 13 June 1532'. At the end (u7v) the text is dated 'Lyon 31 Dec. 1555'. Woodcut historiated initials. II: Very scarce humanist commentary on Caesarius' Dialectica (1st ed.). Heinrich Glareanus (1488-1563) was a pupil of Caesarius, and himself a famous Greek scholar. At one time a Greek professor at Paris (1517-1522), he finally taught history and geography at Freiburg (1529-1560). Nowadays he is mostly remembered as an important music theoretician.
