Incorporated in South Dakota. Cert. #4624, issued to Mrs. C.B.Rockwell in 1915 for 250 shares. Signed by President and Secretary (signatures illegible). A beautiful stock certificate. Uncancelled. Printer: A. Hoen & Co., Baltimore, MD. Two “Documentary” 3-cent Federal Revenue Stamps on the reverse. Green ground and border with wonderful mining illustrations and vignettes: the border contains separate vignettes of gold nuggets, with side borders each a vignette of a bottle of nuggets with cork top. Beneath the masthead is an illustration of where the gold gravels and gold sands lie beneath the surface. Below the signatures are six underground sketches of mining activities, ore carts, miners working, etc., with two scenes of prospectors at lower corners. There is a separate illustration of washing gold, and another of a loaded ore cart ascending to the surface via a pulley system. This is the most famous illustrated gold rush stock certificate by far. Simply stunning and in Very Fine condition. The Cariboo Gold Rush was nearly contemporaneous to the famous Fraser River Gold Rush of 1857. Discovered about 1861, numerous mining camps grew out of this desolate territory south and east of Alaska. Placer gold production waned, but was revived numerous times, probably following the great American gold rushes. The numerous mining vignettes and beautiful gold nuggets make this certificate one of the most prized of all mining certificates. Most of these certs that we have seen have appreciable iron stains, and this is a clean, fine example. -58996
