Victoria "The British Empire" medal 1897, 76mm diameter, 5mm thick, struck in copper-nickel or "white metal," Eimer-1816, engraved by F. Bowcher, a marvelous rendition of majesty and empire, showing off Queen Victoria in small jeweled crown as her public loved to see her, at her Diamond Jubilee, or 60th year as sovereign. Reverse features the Order of the Garter in center, surrounded by shields of the 50 British colonies and protectorates. Choice condition, virtually as struck, in high relief, small hole at top of obverse as almost always seen, in Spink & Son purple plush case, black leather outside (worn leather, the interior superb). A wonderful memento from the period of Victoria's "little wars" of the Empire!

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
