<B>Queen Anne Shilling 1708 Plumes,</B></I> S-3611, a delightful Choice XF piece showing residual luster beneath simply charming toning, a mix of well-set medium gray highlighted by delicate hues of blue and mauve iridescence, and a lovely, balanced overall look with excellent sharpness in almost all details. This coin should be worth in excess of the 2007 Spink value for EF, which is $575. Came to us with a ticket from Bowers & Ruddy Galleries' Montgomery auction of February 1976, Lot 4274. The present cataloguer worked on that sale and recalls its many beautiful, carefully selected coins, which sold at high prices for 1976.
