Great Britain Late Anglo-Saxon coinage, Harold I
Late Anglo-Saxon coinage, Harold I (1035-40) Fleur-de-Lis penny, armoured and diademed bust facing left, HAROLD REX, cross; reverse: voided Long Cross, fleur-de-lis style between two pellets in each angle, LEFRIC ON LUN, moneyer Leofric of London, S-1164 (variant: three trefoils and one fleur-de-lis with pellets), N-803, variant as noted. Superb Good EF, virtually as struck and about as close to FDC as might be found for this type, on a round flan of good metal without cracks or chips, the portrait clear and singly struck, the legends all crisp as made, lustrous with gorgeous gray surfaces enhanced by golden iridescence (itself rare). One Viking peck-mark under the king's eye. All in all, one of the finest of these to be found, a jewel of a coin!

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
