Diademed and draped bust right; CIOLWL F REX, three pellets ending. <I>Reverse</I>: Cross crosslet with lozenge-shaped center, plain small cross within; LIOFVALD MONET in the quarterd angles. Bold, full strike on excellent metal, with superior portrait. Artistic, medium to deep gray toning; lightly polished or cleaned long ago. Overstruck on earlier penny; F REX to be clearly seen on the reverse at 9 o&#39;clock. A coin of great charm. Extremely Rare! <B>NGC graded EF-40.</B> <BR><BR>A stunning example of the short-reigned and last king of Mercia, who was killed in the period of Viking raids.
