James I (1603-25) gold ship Spur-ryal, S-2614, N-2080, Second Coinage of 1604-19, Escallop or seashell mm (as struck 1606-07), king standing in man-o'-war ship facing, holding shield, his royal banner to viewer's left; reverse featuring a Tudor rose at the center of a sunburst surrounded by royal crests -- one of the great classics of the Stuart gold series, and very rare in any condition. This piece Fine overall, with sharpness of VF but cleaned ages back, yet all details are set off by two-tone contrast, the flan almost complete if somewhat wavy, details really remarkable for such a piece. Historic and very rare!

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
