James I (1603-25) gold Unite, S-2618, Second Coinage, 2nd bust, Lis mm (struck 1604-05), Schneider-22, AU55 PCGS, a superior example of this issue showing much luster on a broad, full flan that is deeply impressed in many areas (the mm on each side and most of the legend letters are crisp), portrait shallowly engraved but well struck, lower center of king's half-length armored body somewhat soft on his hand and the orb, the reverse correspondingly weak at the top left of the shield and on the crown. Despite its shortcomings, this is one of the finest unites of this variety seen, and worthy of any premium collection of English hammered gold coins.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
