Elizabeth II pattern Decimal Penny 1961, P-2530, MS64 RB "Cheshire Collection" NGC, a landmark piece conceived as a possibility to replace the Wren Farthing, then in circulation in the UK, as the new decimal coinage was coming (another decade away but long in planning). The reverse monogram was never used, but is reminiscent of the sixpence pieces of George VI, the queen's father. This piece is the very last coin listed in Peck's reference; at the time he had no idea how rare it would be, so he gave no rarity rating; now it is known to be extremely rare. An important modern pattern, and very beautiful in quality, nearly full red and essentially a gem.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
