George III counterstamped "Dollar" (circa 1797), S-3765A, oval George III c/s on portrait 1793-So DA 8 reales of Chile -- a rarity, and in wonderful condition: Choice lustrous AU, satiny brilliance, small scratch across obverse field to right of portrait and a small rim-flaw at 5 o'clock obverse, but a delight of a specimen, the c/s deep and virtually as made. Normally we do not put the estimated date of manufacture, but the great emergency coinage of the Napoleonic Wars occurred about 1797 onward, until the 1804 issue, which also employed other countries' dollar-sized silver coins for re-issue under the authority of the Bank of England. This piece is a rarity!

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
