<B>George III Crown 1818,</B></I> S-3787, LVIII edge date, PR64 PCGS, attractive light pastel toning, a mixture of bluish gray and gold. Spink calls the proofs of this date (and type) all "extremely rare," and that is true. Moreso, most known pieces are far, far less in quality than this beauty, which is nearly as made, having just the faintest hairlines, which is why PCGS called it PR64. The exquisite sharpness of the details engraved by Benedetto Pistrucci show only on proofs, and here they are in all their glory. An important coin for type and George III collectors.
