Exceptionally rare variant Fillmore East program, 5.5 x 8.5, promoting a special series of concerts held at the Fillmore East on February 11–12, 1969, and headlined by Janis Joplin (introducing her new band) with the Grateful Dead honoring the introduction of Janis as a solo artist by serving as the special opening support act (something they didn't do at that time because of their own headliner status). The program also includes biographies and photos of the aforementioned acts. In fine condition, with a date notation to front cover. Accompanied by an unsigned 10 x 8 third-generation photo of Joplin dancing during her February 12 Fillmore East performance. These special San Francisco concert dates were particularly notable as Joplin—recently split from Big Brother and the Holding Company and yet to form the Kozmic Blues Band—was temporarily limited to calling the group “Her Band.”
