Original preliminary artwork for the Grateful Dead poster for their show at Nassau Coliseum on March 15–16, 1973, accomplished in graphite by artist David Byrd on an off-white 14.5 x 12.5 sheet, signed vertically on the left side in pencil, “19—David Edward Byrd—73.” Archivally double-matted and framed to an overall size of 28 x 26. In fine condition. Oversized. The final poster this artwork was used for was designated BG-288 and measured approximately 25 x 38. In addition to the two dancing figures in the center, the poster was headed ‘A Swell Dance Concert’ at the very top with ‘The Grateful Dead’ below. A unique, rarely seen production piece for a classic poster.
