Sportscaster (1880–1954) who would christen a legend when he thus began his report on a 1924 Notre Dame matchup: ‘Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again…’ Uncommon vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Katherine Overstreet, Sincerely, Grantland Rice.” Silvering to darker areas of image, surface impression to facial area, and some light corner creases, otherwise fine condition.
