He famously dubbed the great backfield of the 1924 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team the & lsquo;Four Horsemen& rsquo; of Notre Dame. Typed poem on a sheet of 6 x 9.5 The Vinoy Park Hotel stationery, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, & ldquo;To Oscar, the king of all Oscars, G. Rice,& rdquo; who signs again at the conclusion, & ldquo;Grant Rice.& rdquo; The poem, entitled & ldquo;Odes to Oscar,& rdquo; in part: & ldquo;Oscar Horton, on a hunch / Ate a grey hound for lunch. / And that night& mdash;the lucky fella& mdash; / Won the season& rsquo;s top quinella.& rdquo; In fine condition.
