Original master mold for a piece of the Spaceball One starship used in the Mel Brooks directed space opera Star Wars parody film 'Spaceballs' (1987), primarily a parody of the original Star Wars trilogy, but also parodies other sci-fi films and popular franchises including Star Trek, Alien, The Wizard of Oz, 2001, and the Planet of the Apes.

The film stars Bill Pullman, John Candy and Rick Moranis, with the supporting cast comprising Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, George Wyner, Lorene Yarnell, and the voice of Joan Rivers. In addition to Brooks playing a dual role, the film also features Brooks regulars Dom DeLuise and Rudy De Luca in cameo appearances.

Spaceball I (also Spaceball One) was a spacecraft owned by Planet Spaceball and commanded by Dark Helmet. It was a spoof of Darth Vader's personal Star Destroyer, The Executor, as well as the Death Star (although, ironically, the overall profile of the ship resembled the Rebel Blockade Runner). It was extremely long.

Grant McCune (March 27, 1943 December 27, 2010) was an American special effects designer whose entry into Hollywood was the uncredited creation of the great white shark in the 1975 film Jaws. His efforts there led to work on a series of major films, including his design of the robots in the Star Wars films, winning an Oscar in 1977 for his efforts in the first film in the series.
