Monumental Grandfather clock, mahogany case attributed to R. J. Horner of New York, works attributed to Elliott Clock Co. This magnificant clock looks to be a exposition piece, with fantastic 3 dimensional rococo carved full flowers flanking both sides of clock, full open mouthed carved griffins, bottom of clock features additional 3 dimensional floral carvings and full carved feet. Exceptional carved details from top to bottom. Marquitry inlay also adorns this clock from top to bottom. From the top brass finial, marquitry inlay of flowers and urn is found at the top of clock, the center features marquitry inlay of musical instruments and flowers, the bottom features marquitry inlay of dolphins flanking fruit stand and leaves. The hand painted dial features 2 phases of moons, sailing ships, castle scene which rotates as the clock works. This magnificant clock measures 9 feet tall, 43" wide at the base, and 24" from wall. The case is curved on either side and towards back to showcase it's spectacular carvings. It has 5 tubes, 3 weights, and Westminister chimes, the movement is attributed to Elliott. A Plaque on front of clock reads "Gift of Myer Kaufman, 1935", and has sticker on inside of door reading "Art Musuem".
