Grand Rapids, WI- The Wood County Bank $1 June 1, 1859 G2a Krause 2aAn excessively rare note which may well be unique as a signed and issued example from here, as both Krause and Haxby list notes from this bank as unknown save for Proof examples. Opened in 1859, the bank failed just two years later, with its circulation redeemed at 77ó on the dollar, making it a certainty that the vast majority of the issued notes would be be redeemed. Indeed, by 1863, only two years after its failure, the bank's outstanding circulation had been reduced to a mere $1381. Nice Fine, with a small split and a few pinholes barely worthy of mention, a great Wisconsin rarity likely destined for a place of honor in an important collection.
