Typed letter signed by New York Governor Thomas Dewey dated 20 July 1944 on State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead. Addressed to Francis Pettit, letter reads: ''Dear Mr. Pettit: Many thanks for your letter of July 2nd and for all of the good things you say. I appreciate them very much indeed. With kindest personal regards. Sincerely yours, [signed] Thomas E. Dewey''. 1944 was the year Dewey lost his second presidential bid to incumbent Franklin Delano Roosevelt. 7.25'' x 10.5'' letter has expected folds and toning. Very good.
