An exceptional find in a recently surfaced Comstock check archive. This is an 1866 Gould & Curry check issued to A. Curry. We believe this to be Abraham Curry, one of the namesakes of the mine as well as the first superintendent (and major promoter) of the Carson City Mint. Not endorsed on the reverse. Signed by Louis Janin Jr. as supt. NV and US IR stamps. No A. Curry is listed in the 1864/65 Collins VC directory, which adds to why we believe this is the A. Curry in Carson.
