Gothic pole arm with elaborate forged iron head showing multiple spikes and measuring approximately 18 ¼” from the tip to the end of the mounting ring not including the shaft. The head shows heavy pitting and a great dark patina and we would estimate its age at about 1450 or possibly a bit earlier. The head is mounted on a carved wood shaft that is darkened and shows good aging with knots and a rough type exterior. We would describe the shaft as a museum quality replacement of the 19th or 20th century. The pole arm is nearly 97” overall end to end. Gothic period weapons are seldom seen at auction and are mostly Victorian copies. A genuine artifact made before Columbus sailed to the New World. Est.:$1250-$2500
