American showman (1860–1942) who began his career as a trapper and Pawnee interpreter and later became a partner in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. ALS signed “G. W. Lillie, Pawnee Okla,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Pawnee Bill Oil letterhead, September 1, 1922. Letter to silent movie cowboy Charles ‘Chuck’ Haas. In part: “Enclosed is a letter in reference to a studio thought it might interest you & I mailed you a book of most beautiful Indian pictures…The weather out is fine out here was up to 101 Ranch Thursday and they now have over 2300 Indians in camp waiting for the big show Saturday & it’s a sight.” In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds. Accompanied by the original fabulously illustrated stationery mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand. Excellent content from the Wild West showman.
