<td width="100%">
This is a very nice clean 10" sweep late 1800's-early 1900's period, carpenter's ratchet auger bit brace in very good overall condition. It is marked "GOODELL-PRATT CO. GREENFIELD MASS. MADE IN U.S.A." on the chuck sleeve. This is the nicest one of these unique designed ratchet mechanism braces we've seen to date, and looks great too! The ratchet control lever is uniquely different from most, sort of a hook shaped lever. The ratchet system works great, with the right, left, and lock positions to choose from. There is some wear on the chuck sleeve knurling, not bad. The chuck is also clean with very little wear. This model has the very nice cocobolo head and swing handle, both wood handles are solid and in nice looking condition also. There is about 65% of the original nickel plating on this brace. A nicely made, simple designed brace, by a well known maker! A very hard to find size!
