Good quality flintlock holster pistol converted to percussion, original circa 1700 to 1735, converted to percussion approx. 1830’s. The lock is signed Gene and the rest illegible. The pistol is stocked in good quality burl walnut with a fine pierced sideplate. There is a grotesque mask at the bottom of the brass butt. The pistol measures 19-3/4” overall with 12-1/2” barrel of .58 caliber smoothbore. The barrel has been set back approx. 2-3” and a brass forend cap and brass tipped ramrod added probably at the time of the conversion. The metal surfaces show a brown to grey patina and some light to slightly heavy rust that could be cleaned. The stocks are lightly refinished and show some losses. The action is working. The pistol is fair to good overall. This would have been an elegant pistol by a good maker it its day. Est: $600 - $1,200
