For your consideration is "Gone With the Wind", Illustrated Motion Picture Edition, by Margaret Mitchell, 1940, The Macmillan Company publishers. The Classic novel of the American Civil War and the subsequent Reconstruction era in the deep South. Gone with the Wind is a controversial reference point for subsequent writers of the South, both black and white. Scholars at American universities refer to, interpret, and study it in their writings. The novel has been absorbed into American popular culture. First published in 1936, this edition was published after the 1939 Academy Award winning film of the same name, considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made.
Margaret Munnerlyn Mitchell (1900-1949) was an American novelist and journalist. Margaret's grandmother was a great source of "eye-witness information" about the Civil War and Reconstruction in Atlanta prior to her death in 1934.
This Illustrated Motion Picture Edition features colour photo illustrations from the movie as well as the movie cast listing.
