''Gone With the Wind'' 1939 Ticket
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Very rare ''Gone With the Wind'' movie ticket for the premiere which took place at the Loew's Grand Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia on 15 December 1939. Seating on partial ticket marked ''Right E6''. The epic Civil War-set romantic drama, based on the Margaret Mitchell novel and starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, premiered in Atlanta, Georgia on 15 December 1939 as the climax of three days of festivities hosted by Atlanta's mayor. More than 300,000 people attended the festivities, at which the Governor of Georgia declared December 15th a state holiday. President Jimmy Carter would later recall the movie's premiere as ''the biggest event to happen in the South in my lifetime.'' From December 1939-June 1940, ''Gone With the Wind'' played only advance-ticket road show engagements at a limited number of theaters, before it went into general release in 1941. Gilt-edged ticket stub, measuring 4'' x 2.25'', has expected tear from admittance, else near fine.
