Goliath and the Dragon (1960) - A Samuel Arkoff production, this was the debut film of actor Mark Forest, who became an overnight sensation because of his muscular chest. This is a production made puppet and an original production casting dragon that was gifted to Forrest J. Ackerman. This is the villain of the title of the film, a vintage stop motion puppet created and animated by Jim Danforth. This film was his first screen credit. He was a contemporary of Ray Harryhausen and is one of the pioneers of stop motion animation, nominated for two Oscars and who worked on such films as The Time Machine, 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, Willy Wonka, Diamonds are Forever and Clash of the Titans. He went on to become a leading matte artist creating backgrounds for such films as Conan the Barbarian, The Thing, The Never Ending Story, Day of the Dead, Friday the 13th, Flatliners, Body Snatchers and The Prophecy. Carlo Rambaldi, who went on the create E.T., also worked on the special visual effects on this seminal and important film. Foam latex with metal armature. 25" x 14" x 8".
