Goldfield,NV - Esmeralda County - c1903 - Combination Mine Photograph :
Vista of Combination Mine operations. Photograph measures 6 ½”x 4 ½”, no matte, medium to high contrast—affected by minor yellowing, and focus is sharp—lower left corner is blurred. Photographer identified as A. Allen from Goldfield. The Combination Mine’s first shipments were made in December of 1903. In 1906, Francis Bosqui reported that, “The Combination mine, situated about one-half mile northeast of the town of Goldfield, consists of ten full claims and three fractions, aggregating 200 acres…at the very outset of its career as a gold producer, the Combination was blessed by the happiest accident that can befall a mine—it passed into good hands. It has been well administered; it has had the benefit of the most approved and practical methods in mining and metallurgy” (Rickard ed., Recent Cyanide Practice, 1907). A.D. Meyers and R.C. Hart struck the Combination Lode in May of 1903. No. 85.
