1) There is a collection of letters, telegraphs, stock, property and utility applications, general business inquiries, and letters of friendship that dates between 1906 and 1920, the peak years for Goldfield’s production and population. 2) Included are group of financial statements from various mining companies including Grandma Consolidated Mine, Goldfield’s White Rock Mining Company, and Kabawgam Mining Company that is dated between 1906 and 1921. There are balance sheets, income statements, assayer reports and other various accounting and financial records. 3) Also, are a set of letters in regards to the memorial ceremony in 1958 regarding the famous 1906 boxing match between Joe Gans and Oscar “Battling” Nelson. Gans is considered to be one of the greatest boxers of all time. One of the letters is from Nat Fleischer, who was the founder and original editor in chief for “The Ring” Magazine. The memorial for the fight still stands in Goldfield today. 4) Furthermore, there are a surveyor’s map of Goldfield and a set of vintage newspapers and publications. The map of Goldfield is done in great detail and displays most of the town’s main streets and industries. The map is still in fine condition and is signed Joseph Hammilson, county clerk, and copywriter James H. Parks, dated 1909. An issue of the Goldfield Tribune from 1922 writes in regards to British political figure Lloyd George who fell from power after the Versailles Peace Treaty. A 1958 Goldfield Enterprise Newspaper publication contemplates over the reopening of the Goldfield Hotel, which has been closed but still standing since its doors closed in 1945. Depending on the source, Goldfield had a maximum population of somewhere between fifteen and thirty thousand in its peak. It has been nearly vacant for seventy years but still has a small population of just over 300. Goldfield is located between Tonopah, NV and Beatty, NV just north of the highway 266 junction.
