No. 448 issued to L. H. Abbott by Geo. A. Christman, Secretary, and L. R. Bartlett, President on March 4th for 1,000 shares.  Incorporated in 1895. This firm owned the “Gladstone, [a] patented fractional claim, on Gold hill, a shipper with assays as high as $600; also claims . . . the War Dance, [consisting of] 8 acres, on [the] southeast slope of Battle mountain; Pompeii, Tacoma, Catherine, fractional claims on Bull hill; Eula No. 1, Eula No. 2, Sunshine, Jolly Butcher, Gwendolin No. 2 and Nellie R, all full claims on Tenderfoot hill; Swan, Nebraska, Bancroft, Eugene, Eva May, Black Diamond, Copper King, Maggie J., Henry, full claims, and the Swan placer of 20 acres on northwest Mineral Hill; also the 3 Jims, Emma J., and the Golden Hope, on north Trachyte mountain.”  In 1896 there were “about 17 shafts, aggregating 870 feet of work and 4 tunnels, in all about 340 feet long; 23 men [were] employed” at the time [White, Cripple Creek Up to Date, p. 30, 1896]. Signed by Abbott on reverse on April 6th. U/C.  A few wrinkles, but in good condition.
